Jillian Michaels gives tips on prioritizing mental and emotional health during quarantine: ‘Invest in your self-care’

Jillian Michaels is just like the rest of us as she navigates these unprecedented times. And with quarantine still a way of life, it is no surprise that the fitness expert is prioritizing ways to continue to maintain her overall health.

During Yahoo’s Reset Your Mindset event, Michaels discussed the effects of the burden of uncertainty that weighs heavy on many shoulders.

“Things are scary, crazy unknown,” she said. “We have our kids at home for those of us that have kids, we’re overwhelmed in pretty much every conceivable way. And at times like this, it’s absolutely normal to say ‘I can’t handle anything else. I’m checking out on my self-care and all the other stuff that I deem to be more punishing.’ But one of the most important things you can do is invest in your self-care and prioritize your health right now.”

Everton defender Keane says he hit ‘rock bottom’ as he opens up on mental health struggles

Michael Keane has revealed he hit “rock bottom” while attempting to cope with form and fitness issues following his big-money transfer to Everton. 

The England international moved to Goodison Park from Burnley prior to the 2017-18 season in a deal worth an initial £25 million.

However, Keane soon encountered problems at his new club, suffering a gash during an EFL Cup tie against Sunderland that ended up becoming infected, leading to a spell in hospital.

Performances for Everton led to him hiding away due to embarrassment too, and he eventually confessed all to his family. However, the centre-back has found help through speaking to a sports psychologist, allowing him to “keep on top of it”.

State tells Sacramento County to back off on allowing gatherings, fitness studios to open

It turns out Memorial Day weekend will not be quite the big economic and social reopening moment that Sacramento residents and businesses owners had hoped.

Sacramento County health chief Peter Beilenson on Thursday reversed his approval from earlier this week for fitness centers to reopen, saying state health officials had stepped in to tell him it’s too soon.

Beilenson said state health officials also told him to back off of his plans to allow groups of up to 10 get together, with social distancing, starting this weekend.

The county still intends to issue a revised coronavirus “stay home” directive on Friday that will immediately allow restaurants to reopen for both indoor and outdoor dining. Tables must be six feet apart. And, for now, people should only dine at the same table with members of their household.
