Test Your Sperm On An App For Your Smartphone

Perhaps you have been trying to make a baby with your wife and somehow, no matter how hard you try, it just has not happened yet. Your wife even bought an ovulation predictor kit. You also tried purchasing a sperm count kit–however, it is a product made only to count the sperm and not how well they move. That is all going to change now as the first FDA-approved test using a smartphone app only to count sperm and test how well they swim has arrived in the U.S. market.

In this kit, you will be provided with a product that comes with an app and a mini-microscope “clip” that is placed at the top your phone to access the device’s light, focus and recording capabilities. The process is very easy: you prepare a sample on the slide (sort of like the one you did in high school biology class), stick it into the clip, and within just two minutes you will see the moving sperm on your phone’s screen. In another minute or so, you will be getting the test results. While you wait, cheeky “spermi trivia” questions will pop up to help lighten up the mood. You don’t have to worry about missing out because the video and results will be recorded in the app. As for the accuracy level of the kit, CEO of Medical Electronic Systems, Marcia Deutch, said that extensive testing has been made for the last four years. 99 percent of the time, the technology is able to read the sperm sample but only if you follow every instructions given. If it is able to read the results, they are more than 97 percent accurate based on FDA studies of 316 participants of the study.

Since the technology is an over-the-counter product, Deutsch said that the test will not give actual values but it will only indicate if it is “low” or “moderate/normal” based on World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines for sperm motility (how well they move) and concentration (how many there are). The test gives a report on the composite of these two parameters called “motile sperm concentration,” or the number of moving sperm.
Getting To The Point – Options

The home test is just the first step to finding out whether you have fertility issue or not. So if your results come back low, do not panic yet; go to a fertility clinic to confirm the results. Aside from the motility and concentration though, you will need to go check out the morphology, which is how many normally shaped sperm there are. You will want to go see a doctor for this one. If your home test results showed normal but you still haven’t conceived in one year, go see a doctor, or in six months if you are over 35 years old.A Simple Plan For Researching Applications
